My neighbors working on a deck outside
The poundings waking me up in the mornin.
I’ll take a somber little walk on the beach
And see the creatures that creep out of the shadowy deep.
I hope that they never find out
The meat is for the children,
and when you beat your children we’ll know
I’m just taking some time off
If you feed your children they’ll grow.
My shadow beckons me to cross the street
The sun is fleshy with heat and it’s engorging.
I kiss the ocean with the soles of my feet
And eat the creatures that creep out of the shadowy deep.
The children searching for crustaceans to eat
My neighbor pounding away at what he’s making.
He sees the babies but he just doesn’t care
He just hammers away on the deck that he made.
I hope that they never find out
The meat is for the children,
and when you beat your children we’ll know
I’m just taking some time off
If you feed your children they’ll grow.
I hope that they never find out
The ocean is for swimming, when you drown the women they float
I’m just taking some time off
The sea is now a home for their bones.
